Public Opinion of Music

One of the main reasons for starting this blog is to gauge public opinion and participation in the music scene of Delmarva. Basically, to see if the rumors are true. That is, to see if people really give hoot about live music or music in general around here. From my experience, people in other regions of the country care for, respect, and are generally more excited and enthusiastic about their music than the folks on the Shore. Many of you I'm sure have been to see a band that no one is paying attention too, no one claps after a song, no one talks to them after their set, or everyone avoids eye contact as they walk by. If someone does talk to them it is usually someone on vacation from out of town. So the real question is: Why?

Here are a few possible answers:

1. "They just plain suck!" Sometimes the case, yes, but not always and that doesn't explain the cold shoulder treatment.

2. "I am deaf." Well, even deaf schools hold concerts. It's true, they do.

3. "I was watching the game." This is pretty frequent, especially in sports bars. What ever happened to multi-tasking though?

4. The list goes...

Are you in a band? If not, that's cool too...
